It has become an everyday trend with all the horrendous stories that make the rounds on social media platforms. The world today has tagged it to be a culture as it has thrived for many years in every continent. It just has to be the new pandemic with no cure at the moment. According to RAINN, out of all sexual abuse cases reported to law enforcement, 93% of juvenile victims knew the perpetrator and;
59% were acquaintances
34% were family members
7% were strangers to the victim
Also according to premium times, only 18 convictions have been recorded in Nigeria's legal history! so, our Ladies have been shouting and pleading but all efforts have been shown to be futile with new victims coming out every day while assaulters and rapists walk around freely without being brought to book and facing the full wrath of the law.
Let's discuss; Please share your opinions
1) What should be done to a rapist who's been confirmed guilty for his/her actions?
2) Should rape apologists be sentenced as well?
3) Should victims take the law into their hands?
4) Should husbands who rape be exempted from this?
5) How will you educate your girl child as a Parent Please Watch this and drop all your opinions in the comment section...
Let's fight this now so our children's children wont fight this same war #saynotorape #punishoffenders #ithappenstobothfemaleandmale
What is worst than death?
4. That husband & wife matter na another discussion.. Lol. Only me no fit settle that matter 😂😂
3. Do not take law into your hands, Only if it's in an act of self defence. Things get easily twisted. It won't be called a rape case but a murder or a violent attack.
2. A rape apologist is either a rapist or a potential rapist.. They should be investigated & arrested also.
Every question on this topic of rape is a new discussion entirely.. Raping & killling an innocent lady is beyond thoughts controlled by sexual urges, many rapists will gladly do that to cover their hideous act. This explains why death penalty should be enacted as a punishment without thinking twice for offenders with evidence..
They should be sentenced to 80 years in prison and all rape apologists should be locked in a psychiatric home for 40 years.
Rape is not a culture and excuses should no be made for rapists.
Just 18 convictions in Nigeria's legal history?! Y'all got to be kidding me jeez! Why will this preposterous act not linger, when over 90% of rapists roam the society and new recruit rapists have no fear because no punishment is served by their mentors/godfathers? Come on we can do better than this. We are all shouting no to rape on social media & sharing anti-rape #tags, meanwhile some people make excuses for these act, some even begin stigmatizing victims, how then do we want these people to come out to report their cases so justice can be served, without society ostracizing and point fingers at them? The stats is just alarming, and more should be done to curb this menace called rape. 1. Every rapist confirmed of the crime should be sent out of the society to a correctional facility for half his/her lifetime. 2. See question ooo. Of course, after serving your time, we too will apologize. 3. I don't subscribe, but if the law lose guard, well... 4. Seriously? Rape is rape. 5. Speak up if anyone try as much to joke sexual oriented joke with you, shikina.
Rape is not a controversial issue. Everyone agrees that rape is wrong and rapists should be sentenced and all. But it's still happening mainly because it's a problem deeply embedded in culture and there has been hardly any repercussions.
Rape and sexually related violence cases cannot be excused on any premise. I feel the solution is beyond legislative proceedings. It is a systemic cultural anomaly that should be tackled from the home even to our school syllabus. Anyone who excuses rape for whatever reasons, is as guilty as the rapist and should be sanctioned. Rape as a crime should be punished no matter the office or title of the rapist.
Every rapist should be punished for for his/her action
